“Minimally Invasive with Plasma Surgery Global Lecture Series” - "Healthy Vietnam"

Lecture Title:The continuous irrigating mode for endoscopic ear surgery (CIM-EES)

In the morning of Jan. 18, 2024, Prof. Hua Liao, Chief Physician of Otology Department of Wuhan University People's Hospital, was invited by the Department of Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery of Vietnam National University – University of Medicine and Pharmacy (VNU-UMP), and the Vietnam Hearing Association (VHA) to give a lecture titled "The continuous irrigating mode for endoscopic ear surgery (CIM-EES)" at VNU-UMP. The lecture was the first in a series of lectures on “Minimally Invasive with Plasma Surgery Global Lecture Series” - "Healthy Vietnam" organized by Nanos Medical (Shanghai) Limited. More than 30 students and faculty members from the Department of Otorhinolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery VNU-UMP, listened to the lecture in the academic conference room together with more than 100 Vietnamese otorhinolaryngology, head and neck surgeons on-line.

Prof. Hua Liao is the originator of a new surgical model of endoscopic otoscopic surgery called "The continuous irrigating mode for endoscopic ear surgery" (CIM-EES), which partially solves the problems and shortcomings of the traditional endoscopic surgery mode, making the endoscopic surgery process clearer and smoother. The continuous irrigating mode for endoscopic ear surgery solves the effect of bleeding on the operation to a certain extent, and keeps the lens in a continuous and clear state, which makes the boundary between diseased tissues and normal tissues clearer, increases the safety of the operation, and reduces the lesion residue; It helps endoscopic one-handed fine operation, realizes endoscopic bone grinding through the ear canal with high efficiency, and the lens can continuously maintain close observation and operation underwater without worrying about the risk of thermal damage to the fine structure caused by the overheating of the lens temperature; it can significantly shorten the operation time compared with the traditional otoscopic surgical mode; and it further enhances the precision and breadth of the otoscopic surgery. Endoscopic tympanic membrane repair, endoscopic tympanoplasty, endoscopic middle ear cholesteatoma surgery, endoscopic facial nerve decompression, and endoscopic transcanal tympanic nerve neuroma resection have been widely used in the continuous irrigating mode for endoscopic ear surgery.

The continuous irrigating mode for endoscopic ear surgery is likely dancing ballet in water, make ear surgery with endoscopy CLEANER, SMOOTHER, SAFETY AND MORE ELEGANT.

If you study alone without friends, you will be lonely and ignorant; if you study hard and communicate, you will be erudite and wise. Communication is the treasure of continuous knowledge and the ladder of academic innovation. During the exchange and questioning session, Prof. Liao Hua had a warm and in-depth discussion with the students and teachers on the plasma operating temperature under CIM-EES, the structural characteristics of the developed ear plasma surgical electrodes, and how to further promote the friendly exchanges between Chinese and Vietnamese medical academics, and so on.
